My primary goal of Stop Writing Alone is to help writers find the writing community that best fits their needs, whether that means joining my events, creating your own writing community, or seeking out opportunities in other spaces. Today I want to shine the light on a cool space you might want to check out.
If you’ve been around the live calls here in Stop Writing Alone, chances are you’ve heard me talk about Authors Publish, as an email newsletter I subscribe to and often recommend to writers looking for homes for their short fiction and poetry. However, over the last couple months I have discovered that their newsletter and highly informative free e-book, Submit, Publish, Repeat, is just the tip of the iceberg.
Free Lectures from Authors Publish
A couple of months ago I was reading an issue of Authors Publish Magazine and noticed a reference to a lecture being held on Zoom. It caught my eye because it was coming up soon and I was available at the date and time. I then decided to check out the price point.
It was free.
There have been a number of workshops through Authors Publish that have piqued my interest, but either the time or finances did not line up for me — also, more often than not, many of the Authors Publish courses were filling up faster than I got to reading all my email!
I signed up for the free lecture on Sentiment & Sentimentality with Ellen Bass and I was blown away. Not long after, another lecture was announced about {ractical Ways to Combat “Publishing Block” with Emily Harstone, the author of the free e-book on Authors Publish I found so valuable. Well, I no longer let my Aithors Publish emails slip by unread. I open and register whenever I can, and have told the Stop Writing Alone members in the live calls about this opportunity as well, but then I realized there is a huge group here that may still not know.
If you are not yet subscribe to Authors Publish Magazine and you are actively writing in pursuit of publication, this is a valuable resource that you need to tap into. This afternoon I am registered for another free lecture entitled The Path to Publication: A Dialogue on the Agent-Author Relationship. Here is the link to the information about these lectures:

And More With Paid Workshops
While I have yet to take advantage of any of the paid courses from Authors Publish, I have heard some good feedback from writers in the Stop Writing Alone community who have. The library of courses is always growing and speaks to many different types of writing goals with courses for novelists, memoirists, short story writers, poets, and more. Here is the course page for you to check out:

Let Us Know What You Think
If you have already checked out the Authors Publish community opportunities, let us know about your experience! Is there a not-to-be-missed course in their catalog? Di you read another of their free ebooks and find it illuminating? Have you been enjoying the free lecture series along with me? Shout out in the comments to let your fellow writers know.
Also, if you know of another cool community opportunity I should check out, let us know!
Spread the Word!
If you have a writing buddy that absolutely needs to know about this opportunity, feel free to share this post with them so they can gobble up this goodness to support their writing life!
See You Next Week!
Finally, I hope to see your faces next week in some of the writing events going on to support your writing productivity and creativity.
Every Tuesday this month I am hosting free two-hour TYPE & TALK sessions. What are these? Co-working Zoom calls designed to give us the room to chat about our writing, but also set a time and get more words on the page. Last week that looked like 20-25 minutes of chat about our current WIPs followed by 30-35 minutes of writing, twice over! It was wonderful!
Of course, if you upgrade to paid (which always starts with the first week free trial!), then there’s even more with Meditation Mondays (we do Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Practice), Write -In Wednesdays (FOUR one hour write-in sessions), and the end of the week is jam-packed with a Poetry Prompt Party and Story Club conversation on Thursday and a Writing Prompt Party on Friday! Woo! I WILL be doing a ton of writing next week! Join me!!
Thank you for sharing this resource!
