Just when I thought I had wrangled all of the typos out of my March Calendar of Events, I received a private message from a member of our community asking me about the Monday night 8pm Writing Prompt Party on the Google Calendar.
The time of this message was 8:03pm on Monday night.
I know myself too well in moments like this. There is no point in questioning the person sending me this message — somehow there was a meeting I knew nothing about. I ran to Zoom, while laughing, to find another writer already waiting for the meeting I unintentionally planned. You see this is only my second month using Google Calendar in addition to our printable calendar. It’s a whole new place, and way, to make typos! I had intended to enter a Writing Prompt Party on Monday, March 24th at 8pm, but after successfully adding 17 other meetings to the Google calendar, I suppose my editorial brain had thrown in the towel.
Lucky for the keen-eyed writers (and me!), I had just wrapped on all of the chores of the night and was free to write, so we dove right into an impromptu Writing Prompt Party. We had a great time and drafted some fun fiction, so I figured I share the the joy with you.
The Prompt
I still had the Write Now! deck of cards on my desk from the last Writing Prompt Party of February, so I asked the group to pick a card out of the “Use These Words In A Story” cards. Here is the one we used:
The card reads:
Include these words to write the story The Incompetent Apprentice.
push
always
sweat
grease
concentrate
iron
garbage
black
irritation
If I ever get to polishing up my story from this prompt party and post in in my fiction Substack page, Story Hoarder, I will share the link in comments. If you wish to share a link to your own story based on the prompt, feel free to do so as well. Just take this note below to heart whenever posting your writing online:
NOTE: Please remember that if you are seeking publication for your fiction many outlets will not accept fiction that has been previously published, even if that is on your own personal blog. Sharing your fiction in this way could potentially make this particular story ineligible for such publications.
If you are still ready to share, I am ready to read!
