What it Looks Like
NEW Events This Month
As discussed at the end of last year, there are two new focuses as we step into 2024: Creativity and Critique. Here’s what they look like this month:
THE ARTIST’S WAY STUDY GROUP
We are starting a brand new year long project in Stop Writing Alone: The Artist’s Way Study Group! If you are an Artist’s Way fan, or have always been a bit curious about the program, then this chat is for you. Each month we will tackle the Topics and Tasks of one chapter of the book as we discuss the tools like the Morning Pages and Artist’s dates throughout the year. So go grab your copy of The Artist’s Way and join the Chats!
CRITIQUE CREW BOOK DISCUSSIONS
As we get ready for our next season of Critique Crew in Stop Writing Alone, where writers give and receive feedback on the writing projects of their choice, it is time to read the texts we are using as our guides, Craft in the Real World by Matthew Salesses and The Anti-Racists Writing Workshop by Felicia Rose Chavez.
Note: Stop Writing Alone is an affiliate of Bookshop.org. This means that if you make a purchase using any bookshop.org links shared here I may get a small commission from that purchase. This does not add to the cost of your purchase, it is paid by to me by bookshop.org. I have chosen to be an affiliate for bookshop.org because I love how their company is designed to support independent bookshops local to you.
What Are The “Open to All Writers” Events This Month?
This month there are THREE meetings open to all writers:
Type & Talk Tuesday Connect to community while making progress on your passion project this month during this two hour event where we chat and then set a timer for a writing sprint!
Critique Crew Book Discussion: CRAFT IN THE REAL WORLD There are two options for you to join in on this discussion of the book Craft in the Real World by Matthew Salesses. At Stop Writing Alone we have begun to explore new ways to engage in critique based on what we have learned in this book. If you would like to join Cohort Two of the Critique Crew, and want to join the project to help create compassionate, constructive, inclusive critique conversations, take the month to read this book and join in on one of our discussions on January 29th.

We selected this text as a new reading for Cohort One of Critique Crew, but you are invited to read along with us and join the discussion. If you would like to join Cohort Two of Critique Crew, and want to join the project to help create compassionate, constructive, inclusive critique conversations, take the month to read this book and join in on one of our discussions on January 31st.
I’m hoping once you join us and see how valuable these experiences are for yourself, you will understand why joining the paid subscription is worth your while.
If you are not yet a paid subscriber, the investment is either $15/month, or $150/year (that gives you two months for free!). Here are some of the reasons why I think you should make this investment today:
