It’s February 1st and I woke up ready to find a new writing challenge to think about while I finalized our Calendar of Events. I went to a spot I go every February 1st and discovered it looked like the challenge was not active this year.
As a result, this happened:
Welcome to #fictioninfeb from Stop Writing Alone
I made a thing. Not the thing I was supposed to be making today, but a thing all the same and this how my brain operates sometimes. Here is a word-a-day prompt thingie for the month of February. There are absolutely no rules here, but what I will try to do, like I try to do every February, is to at least draft some microfiction based on each word for each day of this short month. Feel free to join me on my journey:
I choose to strive for microfiction because when I first participated in Verbuary I was trying to write stories that would fit in an Instagram caption, and also I knew if I dove too deep into the word count, it would be near-impossible to keep it up for the entire month.
So here we are, currently calendar-less, but loaded up with writing prompts. Depending on the kind of writer you are, this could be an awesome addition to your month, or a horrendous and unwelcomed distraction. To you I say, you’re welcome, and, I’m sorry. Lots of times I keep these diversions to myself and wrestle with them and my ping-pong brain in the privacy of my own home, but in the spirit of not writing alone, I decided to take you on the roller coaster with me this month. Let’s see how we enjoy the ride!
At least we are starting with something sweet (unless in your fiction brain it becomes something else entirely)…
See you again tomorrow with our calendar!
I generally write whatever pops into my head. But I'm going to save this list for whenever I've got nothing in my head. Thanks.
