Writing Practice: What is it for?
Natalie Goldberg's Writing Practice from Writing Down the Bones
Tuesday morning at 10am Eastern marks our next group writing practice as I learned it from Natalie Goldberg (Writing Down the Bones). You are invited to join me.
What to Expect
My Quick Take
We will do a silent sitting meditation (five minutes) followed by two ten minute writings on topics selected from Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down the Bones Deck. Then we will read without comment or judgement. We are practicing the three skills to build our writing muscles:
writing
reading
listening
All while settling on self.
A Deeper Understanding of Writing Practice from Natalie Goldberg
Last week, while prepping for our Writing Practice of the week, I went on a quest to reconnect with my teacher, Natalie Goldberg. I was about to dive back into my notes from the retreats I went on, or re-read one of her books, when I discovered an interview with Natalie Goldberg from this past February on The Lion’s Roar Podcast. If you have questions about the practice, how it can help your writing, and what it’s actually for, I highly recommend listening to this. You can find the link below.
