Lots of things got lost in the wind yesterday, our final Word Count Wednesday of the month was one of them. So let’s talk about it today. You can post your count as of this moment, or if you know you Wednesday Word Count you can share that (I ended Wednesday just over 16,000 words). Then, if you are still going throughout today, you can come back and share where you end up!
Either way, here’s hoping you have ended this month of writing strong!
My Final Day of November
Every now and again I do write alone. Today appears to be one of those days. I almost didn’t allow for it. I was going to schedule a last hurrah of end of November Writing Sprints to host, but, with the loss of so much time and attention yesterday, I’ve decided to go it alone.
Well, it’s me and the hourglass.
This hourglass is spinning and spinning today. With thirty minutes of sand spilling, it’s the perfect companion to a day of binge writing with breaks in between. I have 30 minutes of writing in my WIP Into The Yellow, and 30 minutes of something else. Right now, I’m spending some “somethingthing else” time checking in on you. It’s similar to our write-ins where we do this, but choose our “something else” to be chatting with each other — catching up, sharing resoures, asking questions, sharing dra,as of dying pets interrupting literary love fests.
It’s quiet here, and I think for this project that might be perfect. I spent my first 30 minutes of WIP focus today sobbing through my typing (probably not a great look in a Zoom call — I don’t know! I haven’t tried it…yet!).
Anyway, my sand is slipping and I think if I wrapt this up now, I might be able to squeeze out my first warm brewed thing of the day and that is sounding cozy. I don’t expect to get too much more WIP time today. Tonight is an “Alex and Mommy” night thanks to the holiday season’s demands. The hubby has a work celebration, so it is Momtertainment for the kid, and that doesn’t include, “Sketch Mother at her laptop, Child!” There’s solar Christmas lights to dangle around the front yard, pumpkins to deliver to the local forest creatures, a Gingerbread House to assemble, and, if time allows, maybe even a popcorn movie night to round it all off (any must see movies to stream for my 9 year old and myself)?
Thank you all for checking in throughout the month!
Good luck with finding your finish lines, whether they are here today, tomorrow, or ten years from now!
I did it! 50,000 all the way! A tremendous start. Thanks, Nicole and Jackie for your help. Couldn't have done it without you!
I am enjoying your personal essays about your writing. This, and last night's fish story. I hope you continue to do these!
