This year I am taking on the #100dayproject by sharing one lesson a day from my Stop Writing Alone journey. I am looking specifically for the lessons I not only learned myself, but the ones I find myself repeating to writers and creatives in my community over and over again.
Reverse Bucket List
Everyone knows about bucket lists -- those epic TO DO lists to make sure you don't forget to live your best life with the time you have left.
But what about all that you've already done?
I have to thank Stop Writing Alone community member
for showing me this now mandatory tool in my toolbox. A reverse bucket list is a list of all the things you've ALREADY DONE in this life. All the things you once celebrated as a success and, when reaching for your next star, you often forget about. When I make my own reverse bucket list I begin with "Learned to walk," because, as a mom, I was reminded what a HUGE accomplishment that was when our whole family roared with excitement when my son took his first steps. The big things make it to my list too, but those are easy. When you begin with the challenge of writing 100 things on your reverse bucket list you will truly learn how to re-see your successes. And in case you are wondering why I am suggesting you go down this road of self congratulations for even the seemingly small steps you've taken, it's simple: sometimes we need to remember how capable we are of doing great things. When our accomplishments become our habits and seep into the ordinary, we forget the extraordinary efforts they once took to get there, and, in turn, forget that we have those extraordinary abilities within us.
If your bucket list is filled with extraordinary TO DOs that feel slightly out of reach, write down your reverse bucket list to see how much you HAVE DONE already!
Have you ever written yous reverse bucket list? What are some of your accomplishments of note?
My #100DayProject for 2024
Introducing my #100dayproject for 2024:
To know me is to know I have a teacher soul. At the end of the day, my passion is learning and sharing that learning with anyone willing to listen. So, when it came time to think of a project that I could realistically take on for 100 days straight, it had to come back to that passion.
For the next 100 days, I will share one lesson learned each day that I find myself continually sharing with writers and creatives in my community. There are plenty of things that come up again and again (in fact, I'm kind of betting that there are at least 100 of them!) and it's about time I wrote them all down somewhere. Let's see how far we get with these mini lessons, let's see how many you remember me chanting before, and how many you needed to be reminded of!
Running for pen…sooooo snagging this tool! Thank you so much for this one! I really need it right about now. 🤩🤓🤩🙏
What a terrific idea!
