If you are reading this, if you are subscribed to Stop Writing Alone, I have to assume that you spend at least some of your time writing, right?
Now, I know for many writers that means loads of piled up notebooks with ink-filled pages hoarded within closets, drawers and tucked under mattresses. For other writers, it means the digital equivalent of such a hoard. However, there are many writers who have bravely released their words into the world.
This post is for you.
Friends Through Fiction
Last month during one of our live Zoom calls, one of our community members Googled the name of a new member and fell right into one of her short stories he found on a lit mag’s website. He shared the link in the chat and asked, “Is this you?” And we thought, What a wonderful way to be introduced to a new writer friend!
In the past couple weeks I have had the pleasure of reading many stories by writers I have commisserated with in community. Whether I was tagged in a story based on one of my prompts,
or found myself diving deep into a thread requesting such stories, it has been a joy to meet so many new writing friends through their fiction.
Stop Writing Alone has been here on Substack heading on two years and, outside our Writing Prompt Parties and Critique Crew, we have not been actively reading each other’s writing. Let’s change that.
Share Your Story
In the comments below share a link to where we can find and read your writing.
Give us a link to go to:
your favorite, or most current, story on your blog or substack page,
a publication that includes your writing,
buy your book
ONE LINK PER WRITER, PLEASE.
I am hoping this will give us all a chance to read, and “meet” each other through our writing. If this is successful, I’d to do this on a regular basis, so don’t feel like this is your one shot to share your everything — pick one thing for this week and have faith we’ll come back begging for more!
